Tom Niblock Big Band

Composer and arranger Tom Niblock, winner of the 2020 Eddie Harvey Arranger Award and the 2021 Dankworth Prize, leads a 14-piece big band through a mix of original material and arrangements. Trained in Birmingham and Berlin, Niblock has assembled an all-star line-up of London players across trumpets, trombones, saxophones and rhythm section for a gig billed as a warm-up ahead of recording their first album together. His writing has been likened in the jazz press to Mike Gibbs, drawing on influences from composers such as Jim McNeely and John Hollenbeck while folding in elements of twentieth-century classical harmony. Doors are from 8pm, with music running through to 11pm. Tickets are £18.
