The clocks haven't gone back yet but Halloween is creeping into the weekend's line-up, alongside a packed run of gigs, a Trans Pride and the usual Sunday market in the square.

Friday night

She17 Presents What The Fuzz? brings three indie-punk bands – Dead Horse, Woman Wept and Ich bin Finn – to Walthamstow Trades Hall for a pre-Halloween night from 8pm.

Over at Signature Brew's Blackhorse Road taproom, Battle of the Brew XIV sees the 14th edition of the homebrew competition get under way from 6.30pm.

Saturday

Walthamstow Trans Pride returns to Trades Hall for its third year, with workshops, stalls, a community meal, drag and live music from 4pm, raising funds for the local trans community.

Earlier in the day, the William Morris Gallery hosts Let's Chat Kwéyòl!, a free Black History Month launch celebrating Kwéyòl/Creole language and heritage from 11am to 1pm, with monthly sessions to follow from November.

At Big Penny Social, LGBTQ+ a cappella group Barberfellas perform close-harmony songs and comic banter with choir Rebelle Voices from 7pm, tickets from £8.

And out in Highams Park, saxophonist Alex Clarke brings her quartet to All Saints Church for their debut appearance at the club, playing music from her album Out of the Woods. The Alex Clarke Quartet starts at 8pm, £15 in advance or £20 on the door.

Sunday

The week closes, as ever, with the Walthamstow Farmers Market in Town Square from 10am to 2pm, with fresh produce, meat, fish, cheese and street food.

For something more Halloween-themed, Signature Brew's taproom hosts Not A Phase – Halloween Alternative Market from 1pm to 6pm, free to get in.

Families can head to Walthamstow Wetlands for Wonderful Wildlife Weekends, a free drop-in session of pond-dipping and minibeast-hunting from 1pm to 3pm, no booking needed.

To round off the weekend, Soho Theatre Walthamstow has Lucy Beaumont: Bad at Quiz Shows, Good with Weirdos, her surreal stand-up show about why being normal is overrated, with stories from her TV appearances. Starts 8pm, tickets from £29.

For the full list, there's everything on this weekend. And if you'd rather have it land in your inbox, you can get this every Thursday.
