This Sunday repeat of the machine shop course (10am-4:30pm, £130) gives beginners a Level 1 health & safety induction covering safe use of the bandsaw, chopsaw, pillar drill and disc/bobbin sander. Participants learn about different hardwoods, choose their own timber, then design and make a personalised chopping board to take home. Completing the induction lets attendees book workbenches at Blackhorse Workshop afterwards. The course is held in Studio 2, which has no step-free access (three flights of stairs); a hearing loop is available. Dress requirements include sturdy shoes/boots (no trainers), no shorts, and natural fibres only. Public liability insurance is needed for future bench bookings.
