The Waltham Forest Cinema Project screens a newly restored print of Simone Barbès ou la Vertu (1980), described as a brilliantly observed look at hidden nightlife, following cinema ushers and a lesbian cabaret scene through one Parisian night. The screening includes a pre-recorded introduction from Charlotte Wells, director of Aftersun, and a post-film illustrated talk from cinema historian Nigel Smith on the history of London's pornographic cinemas. There's a bar serving local beer, wine and snacks, step-free access, and pay-what-you-can tickets are available. Doors are at 6:30pm for a 7:30pm start, running to around 10pm.
Listing from Waltham Forest Cinema Project. Times and prices can change — check their page before you travel.
