A woman was taken to a major trauma centre after being hit by a route 66 bus in Church Lane, Leytonstone, on Saturday 17 October.
The Metropolitan Police and Transport for London (TfL) are investigating the collision. It happened at about 12.56pm opposite Leytonstone Station.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 12.56pm on Saturday 17th October to reports of a road traffic collision on Church Lane, Leytonstone. We sent resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and paramedics from our hazardous area response team (HART). We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance. We treated a woman at the scene and took her to a major trauma centre by road."
The woman's age is not known.
Nick Owen, TfL's head of bus performance, said: "Our thoughts are with the person who has been injured following a collision with a route 66 bus in Waltham Forest on Saturday. We're urgently investigating alongside the operator, Arriva London, and the police to find out what happened."
He added that "any death or injury is one too many" and said TfL remains committed to improving safety across its network.
Earlier incidents
This is not the first serious collision involving a route 66 bus on Church Lane. In November 2024, Carol Wright, 79, was hit by a route 66 bus on the same street. She died three days later in hospital.
Last month TfL was fined £2 million after being found guilty of health and safety offences over the death of 74-year-old Grace Mecaley at Walthamstow Bus Station in December 2023. At a sentencing hearing on 25 September, the court ruled that for nearly 20 years TfL had failed to make sure pedestrians and vehicles could move safely around the bus station.
