There's a proper mix on offer this weekend, from wrestling and comedy on Friday night to a free dark-industrial-punk gig and the regular Sunday farmers market. Here's where to spend your time.

Friday night

Start the weekend gently at the Family Friendly Language Exchange (Portuguese & French), a drop-in session for casual conversation practice at The Old Station Yard Cafe.

For something livelier, EVE Wrestling: EVE For Vendetta brings professional wrestling mixed with comedy, drama and burlesque to Big Penny Social from 7.30pm, tickets from £25 (18+).

Book lovers should head to St Mary's Walthamstow for An Evening with Booker Prize-Winning Author Marlon James, the Jamaican novelist in conversation with independent bookshop Phlox Books from 7.30pm, £10.

If you fancy dinner out, Chili Nights at The Old Station Yard Cafe promises a chilled evening with a hearty spicy meal, from 7.30pm.

And for laughs, Scottish comedian Larry Dean: Hellbent plays Soho Theatre Walthamstow at 8pm, tackling marriage and resisting adulthood, tickets from £27.

Saturday

The conversation practice continues into the weekend with the Language Exchange Afternoon (Portuguese & French), another drop-in session at The Old Station Yard Cafe.

In the evening, Walthamstow Trades Hall hosts MAKING WAVES, a free dark-industrial-punk night with live acts from the UK and Ukraine, with donations going to Ukraine and Resonance FM, from 6pm.

Sunday

Round off the weekend at the Walthamstow Farmers Market in the Town Square, free entry, 10am to 2pm, rain or shine.

Families are also welcome at St Mary's Walthamstow for the Bring and Share Lunch: Singing for Children & Families, a free bring-and-share lunch followed by intergenerational action songs, from noon to 2pm.
