Walthamstow Central Station Upgrade Moves Forward with Completion of Station Box
28 Nov 2025
The first phase of a major upgrade to Walthamstow Central Station has been completed, with the underground ‘station box’ structure now in place. The works form part of a long-term plan to improve the station’s accessibility and capacity, eventually connecting to a new entrance on Selborne Road.
Transport for London confirmed that utilities have been diverted and structural piling is complete. The station box, a key component of the planned future entrance hall, sits beneath the existing shopping centre site.
The larger redevelopment, which also includes plans for a new town square and improvements to the 17&Central shopping centre, is still dependent on future funding. However, the completion of this phase is a major milestone and signals continued momentum for the project.
