Fancy hiring an e-bike for the school run, the shopping trip or a ride to the park? Waltham Forest Council wants to know what you think — and it has opened a borough-wide survey to find out.
The council is proposing to introduce dockless e-bike hire to the borough, and says your morning commute, trip to the shops or park visit could become easier and greener as a result.
Waltham Forest already has almost 60 kilometres of cycle lanes and more than 1,000 bike hangars for residents, which the council describes as making it the best borough in London to cycle in. The proposal is about adding to the options for getting from A to B.
E-bikes have become a popular way for Londoners to get around, with around 150,000 e-bike trips made in the capital every day. The council says it will ensure any hire scheme in Waltham Forest is introduced in a safe and responsible way, with residents involved in the process at every step.
That is where the survey comes in. It is open to everyone, whether you cycle regularly or never touch a bike, and the council says the responses will shape how an e-bike hire scheme would serve communities across the borough.
