Waltham Forest College has been formally registered with the Office for Students (OfS), a milestone in its expansion of higher education provision.
The OfS confirmed that the college satisfied the initial registration conditions and meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Research Act. The college's Student Protection Plan was also approved as part of the process.
The registration strengthens the college's position as a higher education provider and supports its aim of creating more learning opportunities for residents of Waltham Forest and surrounding communities.
Jane Button, Principal and Chief Executive, said: "This is a hugely exciting milestone for Waltham Forest College and, most importantly, for the communities we serve."
She said the college wants to "open doors and create opportunities for local people to progress into higher education, develop higher-level skills and achieve their aspirations."
The registration followed an extensive application and assessment process. The college is described as a high-performing London further education college that works with the London Borough of Waltham Forest, the Department for Work and Pensions, employers and industry to develop skilled workers and support regional economic growth.
