Tour de Waltham Forest, the borough's largest annual community cycling event, returns on Sunday 20 September.

The event starts and finishes in Lloyd Park, Walthamstow, and promises a "fantastic day of cycling activities, entertainment and family fun".

Coming along vs riding a route

There are two ways to take part. No ticket is needed to come along and enjoy the event in the park, and everyone is welcome. But anyone who wants to join one of the guided or self-guided rides must book a ride ticket in advance.

Self-guided rides take place in the morning, with clear signage and an online map to follow. In the afternoon, the same routes will be ridden with support from experienced ride leaders.

The routes

There are three routes to choose from, all starting and finishing in Lloyd Park:

  • Bronze – a relaxed ride of approximately 9km
  • Silver – a scenic route of around 16km
  • Gold – a more adventurous tour of approximately 20km

In the park

Alongside the rides there will be family-friendly activities and food stalls. The Dr Bike team will also be on hand to check brakes, tyres and wheels for free ahead of the event.
