Suffragette line trains will not stop at any Waltham Forest station until Tuesday 10 November. Network Rail is still repairing the line after a freight train derailed near Barking nearly two weeks ago.
The closure affects Blackhorse Road, Walthamstow Queens Road, Leyton Midland Road and Leytonstone High Road.
Train operator c2c described the repairs as "complex": about 1.2 kilometres of track needs replacing. Much of the damaged infrastructure, including signalling equipment and cabling, can't simply be repaired and has to be rebuilt.
Martin Beable, chief operating officer for GBR Anglia, said: "The derailed train has been removed from the site, which has allowed our engineers to carry out detailed inspections of the damage and begin planning the extensive repairs needed."
He said disruption is expected to continue "until at least the week beginning 9th November", adding that "this is a major undertaking" and needs time "to carry out the work safely and properly".
Transport for London is asking passengers to allow extra time for journeys and to check the TfL Journey Planner or the TfL Go app before they travel.
