Walthamstow's Pillars Brewery is turning ten, and it wants the neighbourhood to raise a glass with it — free of charge.
The brewery plans to give away more than 500 complimentary pints of lager at an anniversary party it is billing as "London's Biggest Round", an attempt to beat the current UK record.
That record was set by Box Steam Brewery in 2016, when 412 beers were bought in a single pub. Pillars is aiming to pass it with its 500-pint giveaway.
The celebration takes place on Saturday 7th November across two sites: the brewery's Blackhorse Road taproom and The Malt Haus on Ravenswood Industrial Estate. Free pints will be poured between 12.30pm and 3pm for ticketholders.
There is more to the day than the free round. Live performances, entertainment, giveaways and food are all on the schedule, running into the evening. Entry to the party is free, but as the brewery puts it, "a free ticket will be required for guests to claim a free pint".
Looking back on the decade, the brewery said: "Since we opened our doors in 2016 as London's first craft lager brewery, Pillars has always aimed to brew the best lager in the UK."
Organisers thanked the community that has grown up around the taproom over the past ten years.
