Nourished Communities Opens New Store in Walthamstow
30 Apr 2025

Nourished Communities, a beloved champion of independent producers, has officially opened its new store at 28 St James Street, Walthamstow, bringing a fresh hub of local, sustainable food to the heart of E17.
The shop, which features an inviting selection of organic vegetables, British meats, freshly baked breads, and artisan goods, aims to foster deeper connections between residents and small-scale producers. Stocking items from over 200 independent businesses, Nourished Communities offers everything from local honey to handmade pasta and premium olive oils.
To mark its arrival, the shop hosted festive opening events on May 3 and May 10, delighting early visitors with a playful treasure hunt—customers searched for tins of olive oil hidden throughout the store. The first 100 customers on each day were treated to mini doughnuts and a celebratory glass of St John Crémant, reflecting the store’s ethos of joy and community.
Speaking at the opening, founder Sam Pfotenhauer said, “We’re thrilled to join the Walthamstow community. Our goal is to make good food accessible and to support the incredible network of small producers who share our values.”
The new shop underscores Walthamstow’s growing reputation as a destination for independent retail and community-focused ventures, offering residents another vibrant space to shop local and eat well.
