The Waltham Forest Cinema Project, based at Good Shepherd Studios in Leytonstone, will screen the documentary Out Laws on Thursday 29 October.

The film follows three LGBT+ activists working to repeal colonial-era anti-homosexuality laws in their home countries:

  • Friedel Dausab from Namibia, who is pushing for landmark legislation
  • Raven Gill, a writer and trans activist from Barbados who changed attitudes and the legal system
  • Rosanna Flamer-Caldera, an advocate from Sri Lanka who successfully fought to change the law

Director James Lewis will take part in a Q&A straight after the screening.

Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets are 'pay what you can' and free tickets are available with no questions asked, which is made possible by the volunteers and staff at Good Shepherd Studios. The on-site café will serve soft drinks, hot drinks and snacks.

Tickets can be booked at tickettailor.com/events/weflockcic/2440497, and there is more information at walthamforestcinemaproject.com.
