Leyton Orient has taken out the newly installed safe standing rows in the E10 stand at the BetWright Stadium while further safety assessments are carried out ahead of the new season.
Safe standing uses rail seats or barriers fitted at each row, allowing spectators to stand without the risk of falling forward. The rail seating was put in over the close season as part of the club's modernisation work. Despite two earlier examinations, specialists advised that further evaluation was needed.
Chief executive Mark Devlin called the decision "frustrating" but "unavoidable".
"The safety of every supporter that enters our stadium is of paramount importance," he said, confirming that the club is working with safe standing experts on what happens next.
The club says the rows will not return until it is satisfied that "the highest safety standards are met".
