Leyton Orient open museum in old East Stand dressing room to mark 90 years at Brisbane Road

Leyton Orient FC has opened a new museum space paying homage to the Brisbane Road club's history, in the room where generations of players once got changed.

The museum sits in the former home team dressing room in the East Stand, and gathers memorabilia, photographs, programmes, shirts and unique artefacts from across the decades, "providing supporters with the opportunity to explore and celebrate the club's remarkable past".

The dressing room itself has recently been restored. Stripping the walls of their 1970s panelling revealed the interior as it originally looked when the stand went up at Brisbane Road in 1956.

Visitors can find the Leyton Orient Museum under the 'Only One Orient' sign in Brisbane Road, through the red wooden double doors.

The opening coincides with the club's 90th anniversary at the ground. To mark it, Orient is running Leyton Orient Memories, a programme of special events each focusing on a different chapter of the club's history.

The themed evenings will "celebrate memorable seasons, iconic matches and players, historic achievements and defining moments that have helped shape Leyton Orient", with supporters hearing stories from former players, managers and special guests alongside exclusive displays and question-and-answer sessions.

The first took place on Wednesday 22nd July, with club historian Davis Watson, Leyton Orient Trust chief executive Neil Taylor, and the son of Jimmy Bloomfield, the manager who led the team through the 1960s and 1970s.

"We are thrilled to be working with Davis Watson - club historian - on bringing the East Stand home team changing room back to life and filled with Orient memorabilia - kindly donated by Orient fans," Neil Taylor said.

The club is asking supporters to come forward with their own memories, photographs and treasured items to add to the collection.
