Families heading to Leyton Leisure Centre this October half-term will find something new in the pool, as part of a £40,000 improvement programme at the centre this autumn.

A new interactive water play station is being installed in the Aqua Play area in time for the school break. It replaces the old snake squirt feature and includes a waterwheel, an interactive bowl with a spinning paddle, and squirting rotating flowers.

Daniel O'Connor, GLL partnership manager for Waltham Forest, said: "We know how popular the Aqua Play feature is with local families, so we're really pleased to give our youngest customers something new to enjoy."

The Aqua Play area will close for one day while the new equipment is installed.

More space for the women-only gym

The works also include a new toilet and changing area on the first floor. This follows the success of the women-only gym the centre launched in September.

Mr O'Connor said: "Adding a new toilet and changing area will make a real difference to the customers who use this part of the centre every week."
