Identity of Walthamstow Road Traffic Victim Confirmed After a Decade
16 Apr 2025

After ten years, the identity of a man killed in a road traffic collision in Walthamstow has been confirmed as Bryan Alwyn Woolis. On the evening of 22 January 2015, Woolis was struck by a car while crossing Chingford Road near the junction with Forest Road and Hoe Street. Despite efforts at the time, his identity remained unknown.
Volunteers from Locate International, a charity specializing in cold cases, traced Woolis's background through a photograph of him on a canal boat and connections to The William The Fourth pub in Leyton. They eventually linked him to Sheffield, where he grew up. Woolis had few possessions and limited contacts, making identification challenging. Further information about his personal life is still being sought.
