A solo exhibition by the emerging painter Emily Malone opens at Three Rooms Gallery in Walthamstow Village on Thursday 13th August.
Love Letters From Greece is Malone's latest body of work, exploring love, mythology and intimacy in the style she calls "pop-renaissance" — a "vibrant reinterpretation of classical European painting that brings ancient themes into a contemporary conversation".
Malone is known for her colourful reimagining of erotic Ancient Greek pottery, and has a substantial online following, where her paintings regularly go viral and prompt discussion about modern readings of classical erotic art.
Her work, she says, is "routed in the amalgamation of mythology, symbolism, explorations of love and desire", alongside her own life experiences.
Malone has previously shown at The Other Art Fair London, The Other Art Fair Brooklyn, Fresh: Art Fair, Mall Galleries and Brick Lane Gallery. In London she is represented by Leontia Gallery and Art Friend Gallery.
Love Letters From Greece runs at Three Rooms Gallery, 74 Beulah Road, E17 9LE, from Thursday 13th August to Sunday 16th August.
