Waltham Forest Council is marking Islamophobia Awareness Month this November under the theme "Don't let it slide", and is asking residents to stand up against discrimination when they see it.

The council says the borough "stands against bigotry, hatred and discrimination in all its forms". It will work with community partners to make sure every resident feels safe and included.

Throughout the month, council staff are holding drop-in sessions in community spaces across the borough to meet members of the Muslim community and raise awareness:

  • Tuesday 10 November – Queens Road Family Centre, 9:45am–11:15am
  • Wednesday 11 November – Lea Bridge Library, 1:30pm–2:30pm
  • Monday 16 November – Mini-Hiba Listening Space, Wood Street area, 2pm–4pm (booking required)
  • Tuesday 17 November – TUN-Space, Tilbury Road, 10:30am–12:30pm
  • Thursday 19 November – Walthamstow Library, 9:45am–11:15am
  • Wednesday 25 November – Chingford Library, 9:45am–11:15am

The council is encouraging residents to stand against hate and to help build a more inclusive community. More details are on the council's website.
