Community Transport Waltham Forest has secured a grant of £811,860 from the Motability Foundation to support its Get Up and Go services across Waltham Forest and Newham.

The services allow disabled members to use a door-to-store shopping service, join excursions and take part in socialising groups in both boroughs.

The funding will pay for new activities alongside the existing offer: a Time Together Club in Waltham Forest, and Accessible Heritage Tours in Waltham Forest and Newham run with a local historian and Age Exchange. It will also provide transport for children with special educational needs and disabilities attending holiday clubs in Newham.

The project runs for three years and will involve a range of agencies from Waltham Forest and Newham working alongside Community Transport Waltham Forest.

Director Helen Tredoux said: "Community Transport Waltham Forest like many voluntary sector organisations has faced funding cuts and threats of closure of our vital services and this investment enables the organisation to continue and grow our services and provide parity between our services in Waltham Forest and Newham."
