Twelve people were evacuated from their homes on Monday evening after part of the roof of a house on Church Hill, E17, collapsed.
Firefighters were called to the scene at around 9pm on 10th August, with one fire engine attending from Walthamstow Fire Station. Crews evacuated residents from surrounding properties, and the Metropolitan Police arrived to help close Church Hill to traffic.
No injuries were reported. The incident is understood to be a structural issue with the building.
A cordon was still in place on Tuesday morning, with the W12 and 212 bus routes being diverted around the closure.
A Met spokesperson said: "On Monday, 10th August at 9.43pm police were called to reports that the roof of a residential building had collapsed at Church Hill, Walthamstow. Officers attended alongside the London Fire Brigade to assist with closing the road and traffic management. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made. A cordon remains in place."
Waltham Forest Council said on Monday: "There is currently a road closure in place on Church Hill, E17 whilst the fire service deal with a damaged roof to a property in the vicinity. This is likely to be in place until tomorrow morning (Tuesday, 11th August). Drivers are advised to use alternative routes at this time."
Drivers heading through the area should plan an alternative route, and anyone relying on the W12 or 212 should allow extra time while the diversions are running.
