Trombonist Annie Whitehead began her professional career at sixteen with Ivy Benson's All-Girl Orchestra and went on to play with Chris McGregor's Brotherhood of Breath, John Stevens and Dudu Pukwana, as well as touring internationally with McCoy Tyner and Carla Bley. Her quintet for this date brings an unusual instrumentation, pairing her trombone and effects with Steve Lodder on piano and keyboards, Jennifer Maidman on bass, Liam Genockey on drums and Geoffrey Richardson on viola and mandolin. Whitehead and Maidman both played on three Penguin Cafe Orchestra albums and are currently promoting Maidman's new record Dreamland. Doors from 8pm, music until 11pm. Tickets are £15.
