Introducing Daniel Thaly: The Forgotten Poet of Dominica

This event marks the publication of Looting Hummingbirds: Selected Poems of Daniel Thaly, the first English translation of the work of Daniel Thaly (1879-1950), once called 'the prince of Antillean poetry' for verse capturing Caribbean landscapes and early environmentalism. Professor Lizabeth Paravisini-Gebert (Vassar College) gives an online talk, publisher Polly Pattullo introduces Thaly's life and legacy, and Jane Ulysses Grell reads his poetry in French and English. Free to attend but booking is required via Eventbrite. Held in the Acanthus Room on the top floor, reached by lift; enter via the front door and ring the doorbell.
